I have been playing the "choose a career" game for way too long, so I come to you all for advice. I am a freshman at a community college in Roanoke, VA taking general education classes, and I'm looking to transfer somewhere next year. I love everything involving the outdoors, including snowboarding, wildlife, hiking, camping, etc... The other things that I love are photography, traveling, reading and writing for fun. Ultimately, my dream is to practically live outdoors doing a ton of different things, traveling and writing. I believe a fear of being stuck in one place, and not being able to pursue and experience all of the things that I'm interested in, has held me back from choosing a career path. Another thing that is possibly holding me back is the fear of the workload for a certain major. I know that I can get past all of this if I can find a means to pursue what I love while making a living, so I come seeking guidance. What major(s), colleges, and careers should I go after to pursue my passions? Current interest list: Colorado Mountain College - Outdoor Education, Ski/Snowboard Business (one con is that it doesn't have a communications program) Majors of interest: Zoology, Outdoor (Education, Recreation, Leadership), Journalism/Creative Writing (etc), Ski/Snowboard Business, etc... I want to be wise about what I pursue, as I don't want to spend more money than I need to. I want to be well educated and well rounded. Any constructive advice would be much appreciated! Thank you.... Read More »
